On Thursday, we went to Gavin's one year appointment. He is 20 lbs and 29.5 inches long! We thought he was getting heavy! The doctor went thru his questions - what is Gavin doing - crawling, check, pointing at things, check, walking - not yet. Well, again he jinxed us. The next day we were playing in the living room and he let go of his walking toy and came towards us - OH BOY! We thought it was a fluke so we had him do it a few more times. Sure enough - the kid can take a few steps on his own without our help!
Last time we visited the doctor, he asked if G was crawling, we said no. About two weeks later he started. Sure, he would have done it anyway - Joel thinks G started walking because we told the doctor he wasn't. It's the Auerbach blood!

Family Portrait
Gavin's First Birthday!
Grandma Joyce came to town for Gavin's birthday. She arrived on Saturday night and stayed with us until Wednesday. Then she went up to Uncle David and Aunt Jen's in Loveland. Grandma and Grandpa Beam arrived on Wednesday. Uncle Neil, Aunt Rebekah and Cousin Landyn arrived on Saturday! We had a family filled week to celebrate Gavin's first birthday!
On Sunday the 21st, we celebrated G's birthday with family and friends. We strapped him into his high chair and sang Happy Birthday. He got quite a kick out of everyone staring at him and singing. Pretty funny to watch. Then we put a piece of chocolate cake on his tray and he went to town. He didn't make too much of a mess. He was pretty neat - for a 1 year old!
Later in the evening we opened presents. The house is certainly starting to look like a PlaySkool testing ground! Uncle David got G a toy fire truck that he can sit in (like the Flinstones) and roll around in. Cousin Landyn got in and G pushed her around in circles! G especially likes the working fire hose. He likes the water squirting into his mouth!
On Tuesday, G's actual birthday - it snowed. Just like last year - SNOW! It took me 3 hrs to get home from work so i almost missed the festivities. We had a few mini cupcakes and sang to him again.
It was a lot of fun having all the family in town. Thanks for visiting!
Photos compliments of Uncle David!
