Feeding my doggies!

For a while now Gavin has picked up the dog bowls after they eat and put them back in the closet. Well, recently he started to open the closet door, put the bowls out and open the food container. Oh boy! The dogs come running and so do we! This kid is a hoot. He doesn't use the scooper. Instead he takes hands full of food and places them into the bowls, on the floor and into the doggies mouths. The dogs have a hard time sitting thru this ritual but dad stands close and makes sure they behave! Check out this video of the process!

Gavin and his cast!

A few photos of G with his cast - also known as September photos! Where does the time go?Grandma Joyce came to town for a visit. She stayed with David for 5 days and us for 5. We went to the Butterfly Pavilion last Sunday. Mom is having fun watching G run around the house. She says he is a busy boy! That is certainly true!

Trouble on the slide - Ahao!

We went to the park on a Thursday night and met up with some of the neighborhood kids. One of the kiddos asked to take G down the big slide, unfortunately G's shoe got caught on the outside of the slide and bent back. He cried for a while then seemed ok so we went home to bed. He woke up a few times that night so I gave him some Tylenol.

The next morning Joel took him to daycare. Maria called before Joel got home and asked if G had walked or stood yet that day. No, not yet, why, Joel asked. He's not walking or standing. Ahao, it's from the little accident on the slide last night. Joel called me, I called the pediatrician and got them an appt for that morning. Dr. Mike said he wanted G to get x-rays and wrap the leg up for 48 hours. X-ray came back and no noticeable break - but toddler fractures don't always show up on x-rays.

It was Labor Day weekend and we were back to carrying Gavin around. He had a splint on his leg and didn't really want to walk. He crab crawled a bit. Joel took the splint off on Sunday evening and on Monday G still wasn't walking well. On Tuesday, we took G back in to Dr. Mike. He said he should be walking better by now. Make an appt with ortho at TCH and see what they say.

Joel brought G down to the main campus on Wednesday and we saw the ortho PA. She thought his leg was still tender and for safe measures we should get a cast! I told Gavin we better not be doing this too often! We had Steve Kast, the hospital photographer, take some photos for us! Gavin went with balloon boy colored casting materials - of course!

The cast will be on for 3 weeks. G didn't walk the first day but the kids at daycare knew they could take stuff away from him. The next day, he was walking again! Now he runs and can use that cast as a club if needed!

Long story, cute photos to follow compliments of Steve Kast!

Children's Day at the Zoo

Children's Hospital had an employees day at the zoo again this year. We took Mr. Gavin late in the afternoon when it cooled down. We covered a lot of ground this time because G stayed in his stroller until we hit the primates area! We had dinner, rode the train, walked around a bit more and came back home! Gavin ate a whole burger and half a bun!
