and finally... Halloween!

The day had finally come. Gavin has been asking about Halloween since mid-August. He even knew he wanted to be Super Mario. I made sure to buy his costume early knowing there was no way he'd dress up in a real pair of overalls with dreaded buttons! Finally the day was here. Gavin got to wear his costumer to preschool ALL DAY! His favorite part of school was decorating and eating his sugar cookie with icing and sprinkles!

I made sure to have dinner early since the trick-or-treaters start at 5:30 in the neighborhood. We successfully finished dinner and got Gavin back into his costume. Trevor hung out with me, he was semi-dressed as Mario's brother Luigi in green shirt and overalls but had a fever so didn't go house to house.

Uncle David and Amy arrived around 6:30 and met dad and Gavin on the street for trick-or-treating. Uncle David was dressed like Grandpa Marty in a mask that I'm pretty sure dates back to the early 80s. David wore dad's Donzi shirt and I gave him a box of Abco lightbulbs to complete the ensemble. He was just missing his flea market apron.

Joel, who has been growing his mop out since last August, was perfectly dressed in his 70s attire. He even wore the outfit to work that day, complete with gold necklace, poly pants and sweet white shoes!

I put on a cowboy hat at the urging of the neighbor while Trevor and I handed out Halloween pencils. The reaction of some kids was pretty funny - where's the candy and walking away before I could put the pencil into their loot bag were just a few! Trevor was an excellent helper and put pencils into bags with precision. I'm sure if it were candy it may have been a different story but he knew his job and did it very well!

At the end of the night, Trevor crashed out, Amy and David left and Gavin and I sat on the front porch handing out the last few pencils. Gavin insisted we sit there til the last pencil was gone. I bought 90 pencils and we had 4 left. It was time for bed so I convinced Gavin it was time to go inside. He had a great time and hit every house on our street that had a light on. Candy is quite the motivator!

Gavin went to bed holding his neon light wand!
