Liquid Gold

Mom's milk sure is good!!
That's one happy camper after a feeding.
Note the glassy eyes and bloated belly.

Cloth Diapers

We went for it last weekend and started using cloth diapers.
After talking to a several folks we decided to try Bummis, the same system my brother and sister-in-law are using. The first few days were quite stressful because it seemed that were we learning how to change a diaper all over again. Plus, changing the kiddo became a two person operation as we fumbled with all the parts (liner, cloth diaper and outer shell) while trying to read the instruction manual. Despite the mumbled threats and the doggies almost getting an interesting snack we have not given up.
We ordered the small size, 8 lbs and up. HA, HA HA. Gavin is swimming in them. They make for great pictures as you can see.
But I consider it a successful day if we add 5 less disposables to the trash.

Colorado Weather

On April 17 and 18 it snowed 8 to 10 inches. Two days later it was 70 degrees.

Gavin: We had a follow up appt yesterday at Children's for Gavin. He is over 8 pounds and his tongue clipping seems to have worked! The feeding must be working! He is sitting on my lap right now sleeping - don't want to move him for he may wake up! We also stopped by my office to visit with the girls. Everyone loves babies! Was great to see the gang.

Sad news

After a 2 year battle with a type of rare blood cancer, my dad passed away this morning. Like everything else he ever did, he did it on his terms. He decided to end treatment yesterday. The doctors said it could be a day or it could be five days. He died in his sleep at the hospital with Deirdre by his side. David and I both got a chance to talk to him yesterday to say our final farewells.

Included are a few photos of dad: from our annual ski trip, my wedding and one of his antique Fords that he was in the process of restoring. Dad was a stubborn guy until the end - always doing it his way. Though we're sad to see him go and not meet Gavin in person, we knew he couldn't live this way - he was always active whether it be skiing, going to the market or just driving like a bat out of hell! We'll miss you.

Two Week Check-Up

Gavin had his two week check-up today and everything is good. Wow, I didn't know they grow so fast. He is now 20 1/2 inches and 7 lbs 5 oz. That's quite a gain on one week (he was 6 lbs 8 oz. at our last ped visit). Jenn's feeding sure is working great. Would he have been this size had he been born at 40 weeks?

A visit to Children's

We went to Children's last Tuesday to get Gavin's tongue clipped - he was a bit tongue tied and our doc said this may help him feed better. I had my friend Tia, our hospital photographer, stop by to take a few photos!

What's a Cresap?

Joel's mom forwarded this info to us since everyone is wondering where Gavin's middle name came from...
Joel and his dad have this middle name as well.

Generation 1 is Thomas CRESAP, born about 1694 in Skipton, Yorkshire, England. He died 31 Jan 1787 in Oldtown, Allegany Co., MD. Thomas is thought to be son of Thomas Chrissop and Sarah Cromble-Holme. He immigrated to the Colonies about 1710. Thomas married (1) Hannah JOHNSON and had 9 children. Thomas married (2) Margaret MILBURN about 1774.
8 Michael CRESAP, was born 1742, in Oldtown, Allegany CO., MD and died 1775 in New York City, NY. He is buried at Trinity Church Cemetary.

Sports team conflict!

We received a package in the mail yesterday from Uncle Steve and Aunt Pat in Pittsburgh. I think they're trying to work on the little man to make him a Steelers fan from the start. Joel roots for the Raiders and I root for the Eagles - as long as he doesn't root for the Broncos, we'll allow it!

One of the few awake photos!!!

The little man!

Your happiness is before you, not behind you! Cherish it!

That was in my fortune cookie on Sunday. Thought it was quite appropriate! Well, week one has flown by at home with the little guy. Things are going pretty well. We're up at least 3x per night to change/feed and change him again! The cloth diapers we have don't fit yet so we're blowing thru the disposables. WOW - at least 10/day.

Went for our first peds appt on Monday. The little man is gaining weight back nicely. We'll go back next week to see how we've done. The more we feed him, the more he goes though! Tuesday we visited Children's to make him into a good Cali boy - his tongue was tied so had it clipped underneath - seems to help with feeding. The doc and staff was great - we had my photographer friend stop by and take a few pix too!

Joel went to the grocery store on Thursday and i was here with the little man. He tends to get a bit fussy around 4 pm. I decided it was time to change him and felt a warm trickle up my arm - I was finally christened! It went up my sleeve, all over the changing table and onto the closet door. I couldn't help but laugh. The whole time the phone was ringing - joel at the grocery. Gavin and I both had new outfits on by the time Joel returned home! I have already been spit up on numerous times - when he's ready, he's ready!

Time flies! It's the weekend again and we're having our third snow storm since we've had the little man. Another weather forecasters "blizzard" - which means less than an inch of the white stuff down here.

Mom arrived yesterday and brother David has her at his house for a few days before sending her down to us! We'll let her have a little sleep before coming down!

I'll add some new pix soon!
