A visit to Glenwood Springs

We took a quick weekend trip to Glenwood Springs in mid-August to see Fran and her daughter, Charlotte. The Ralffs are friends from NJ that dad used to snowplow for way back when. They moved out to Glenwood and when I moved to CO, we reconnected. I used to ski with Fran's husband Rudy every once in a while at Snowmass.

The weekend we visited, Fran's grandkids were also visiting. We went out to lunch, went up the gondola to Adventure Park, walked the bike path and swam in the hotel pool (no we didn't make it to the hot springs on this trip!). Gavin wasn't too thrilled with his first ride on a gondola but the second time up he got used to it - no worries - he still has another year or so until we strap the skis to his feet and bundle him up like a snow bunny!

Anyway, we had a nice visit and the weather was great. Can't say the same for the traffic on the way home - good old I-70 traffic jams at Georgetown!

Cheese!

The other day I pulled out the camera and started chasing G around the house. When he finally sat still and realized I had the camera he started making a funny, scrunched up face and said "CHEESE". He did this more than once as you'll see. I asked Maria the next day if the kids had a camera to play with at her house - "Oh yeah, they run around and pretend to take pictures of each other," she said.

What's Cookin!

We decided it was time to put the "learning tower" together. Dad brought it up from the basement and Gavin has been climbing all over it ever since. Thanks Aunt Rebekah and Uncle Neil! We pull it over to the island sometimes so G can play while we're cooking. He doesn't make quite as much of a mess as mom, but I've had years of practice!

A visit to the Train Museum in Golden

Our neighbors were telling us about the train museum in Golden. That weekend, we all went for a visit. Gavin's buddies Julie and Troy showed us around. It was fun to see how excited G was by the looks on his face. His favorite part was the miniture trains. He says "choo choo"!

Just a few cute ones!

Fireman Gavin

After the fun fair at the north campus, Gavin now has a fire hat to go with his fire truck! He likes to see us in the hat too!

Just a few more photos!

Uncle David and me at the BBQ!
Grandma is where?
Daddy, me and my new friend! He even gave me my very own badge!
Playing with the big kids at Copper.
At Cate's second birthday party.

One year later!

Thought it would be fun to compare 2009 to 2010 photos! Last year, Gavin could sit up. This year he runs, says a few words and knows what he wants!

The week grandma and grandpa came to visit!

We had a BBQ at the house on August 7. The old ice cream maker got pulled out of the basement again - yummy vanilla ice cream for all!
Gavin sitting with grandpa reading books.
Gavin likes to show off his belly these days... and moms slippers!
Children's Hospital North Campus fun fair - got to see a fire truck, police car and flight for life helicopter!
Learning how to make ice cream from dad and grandpa! I got to turn the crank once!

Courage Classic 2010

This year marks our 8th Courage Classic and Gavin's second! He's catching up. Grandma and Grandpa Beam joined us again this year so we could volunteer and they could enjoy Gavin's company at Copper for the weekend. The Beams had a great time playing at the playground and watching the bike riders go by!

Grandma has all of the good weekend photos on her camera. I took a few at our volunteer locations at Vail traffic circle and near Keystone. It was fun to see lots of returning riders and volunteers.
